Steve Nelli

Steve is the Head of Municipal Credit Products at Flagstar Bank. In this role he is responsible for the bank’s municipal lending and government banking portfolios, including initial underwriting and portfolio management. Steve joined Flagstar in March of 2026 after 30 years as a Managing Director at Wells Fargo Securities, where he was the senior credit officer for the firm’s public finance, investor finance and municipal derivatives businesses. Prior to Wells Fargo, he was a Director at Standard & Poor’s in the Public Finance Department, running the lease and short-term debt groups. Steve has a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard University and a BS in Corporate Finance from the University of Kentucky. He was co-author of, The Winning Tradition, A History of Kentucky Wildcat Basketball.
